This page explains what information andersdegroot.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. It's written in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email hello@andersdegroot.com and ask.

What this site collects

The only information this site asks for is an email address, submitted voluntarily through the signup form. That address is sent directly to Buttondown, the email newsletter service this site uses, and is not stored anywhere else.

No other personal information is collected through this site. There are no account logins, no payment forms, and no contact forms beyond the email signup.

How your email address is used

If you sign up, your address is used to send you the bonus content access details, occasional updates about new releases, and nothing else. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately and removes you from future sends.

Your address is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

Third-party services

This site relies on a small number of outside services to function:

• Buttondown handles email delivery and stores subscriber addresses on this site's behalf. Their own privacy practices are described at buttondown.com/privacy.
• Google Fonts serves the typefaces used on this site. Loading a font makes a request to Google's servers, which may log the request in the same way any web request is logged (approximate location, browser type, IP address). No account or identity information is involved.
• DreamHost, this site's host, keeps standard server access logs (IP address, page requested, timestamp) for security and diagnostic purposes, as most web hosts do.

This site does not currently run any analytics or visitor-tracking software. If that changes, this page will be updated to reflect it before any such tool goes live.

Cookies

This site does not set its own cookies. The embedded signup form may involve a session cookie set by Buttondown to process the submission; no advertising or tracking cookies are used.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any message. You can also request that your email address be removed from the mailing list entirely by contacting hello@andersdegroot.com. If you're in the EU, UK, or a jurisdiction with similar data protection law, you're welcome to request a copy of the data held about you or ask that it be deleted, using the same contact.

Age requirement

This site publishes fiction intended for readers 18 and older. It is not directed at, and does not knowingly collect information from, anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted an email address through this site, contact hello@andersdegroot.com and it will be removed.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in any meaningful way, the date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated version.
